MISSION

Latin@s and Tech Initiative at the Center for Latino Policy Research

Taking advantage of its proximity to the Silicon Valley, the Latin@s and Tech Initiative at U.C. Berkeley's CLPR is bridging dialogue between scholars from local universities, community members, and representatives of the tech industry to help critically shape relevant policies to increase the number of Latin@s in the tech industry.

Some of the topics being addressed include:

  • Distribution of the Latin@ workforce in the tech industry
  • Educational pipeline for the tech industry
  • Intersections of race, gender, and sexuality in the tech domain
  • Historical and present social and economic structures shaping the tech industry
  • Latino cultural and intellectual capital in relation to Silicon Valley’s culture of innovation

We are excited at the possibility of connecting with other scholars, activists, community projects, and tech leaders whose initiatives complement our research directions.
